Motor City Tap Fest Faculty - Felipe Galganni

Felipe Galganni (they/them) is a Brazilian-born, New York based tap dancer, choreographer, and educator with over 20 years of experience performing and teaching internationally. A proud non-binary artist, Felipe creates rhythm-driven work at the intersection of tap dance, identity, and community, with a strong commitment to inclusion and queer visibility.

Felipe is a recipient of the Machado de Assis Medal for promoting Brazilian culture in NYC, the Bistro Award for Unique Jazz Presentation with BOSSA TAP TRIO, and the 2024 BroadwayWorld Cabaret Award for Best Drag Artist. A longtime faculty member at Steps on Broadway, they have also taught at Tap City, the Joffrey Tap Intensive, Claquette Club in Belgium, The Juilliard School, and universities across the United States.

As a performer, Felipe has created an extensive body of original choreography and has performed in works by Brenda Bufalino, Michelle Dorrance, Derick K. Grant, Max Pollak, and Lisa La Touche. They have also collaborated with Grammy-winning musicians such as Nilson Matta, Hélio Alves, and Brian Lynch. Felipe’s drag persona, Xana DuMe, the Tap Dancing Drag Queen, has performed at Tap City, Rhythm in Motion, their weekly show at The Duplex in New York City, and international queer cabaret stages including La Sirène à Barbe in France.
